Michael Jackson Character Blog (2026)

“In a world filled with hate, we must still dare to hope. In a world filled with anger, we must still dare to comfort. In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream. And in a world filled with distrust, we must still dare to believe.”

Michael Jackson

Hol on….

You're not going crazy folks, for my first character blog, we'll be doing a deep dive into The King of Pop, Michael Joseph Jackson. Now, as you know, Michael Jackson was a real person, a very complex one at that. However, as you can probably tell, this will not be looking at the real life Michael Jackson, but his fictional self. What will that include you may ask, that’s simple, his music videos, film, television, and video game appearances. Although, admittedly I won’t be using things like South Park, due to my own personal convictions. Also, if you don’t like Michael…then just don’t read it lol. This blog was made by an unapologetic Michael Jackson fan, who has been greatly inspired by him not just as a fellow African American, but also musically, creatively, and morally.

Not much more than that, so get comfy, relax, and please don’t be startin somethin, or else you’ll get hit by, and struck by, a smooth criminal, SHAMONE!

Background

“I'm starting with the man in the mirror, I'm asking him to change his ways; And no message could have been any clearer, If you wanna make the world a better place,

Take a look at yourself, and then make a change!”

The year is 1979, and disco was dead. Yes my friends, after the Disco Demolition Night of 1979, the music industry was in decline, it would take a miracle for it to be saved, it would need something so spectacular, so powerful, it needed to be Off The Wall. What no one knew is that the world was going to be hit by songs so good, they won't get enough of it, and this music would be brought to them by Michael Jackson. The King of Pop’s origin starts humbly in Gary Indiana, raised with his five brothers and three sisters, Michael and his brothers would go on to dominate the music industry as The Jackson Five. The Jackson Five took off in a time, where the world was pretty bleak, only a year after the deaths of Martin Luther King Jr. and Senator RFK Sr., alongside Vietnam, Michael and his brothers brought the world something needed, pure escapism and joy.

However, Mike always stood out, with a voice more sophisticated than most adult artists, it was only a matter of time until he went solo. After finally breaking free of his domineering father, Michael made the leap into the solo music world, with Off The Wall. A disco album that was released after its death, and still sold extremely well, becoming the highest selling album by a black artist. But Michael wasn’t satisfied, he aimed for even grander heights, he wanted to release the highest selling album of all time, and he would, it was a Thriller. Becoming The King Of Pop, Michae now had a new goal, he would use his music and powers, to go on multiple adventures, to spread love, joy, and peace through the power of music. No matter how Dangerous, or Bad his foes are, Michael would always overcome, because he’s Invincible.

Experience

The King of Pop has been on the role of making music since the age of nine years old, Michael became an amazing dancer, by practicing his own moves and studying the greats like James Brown and Charlie Chaplin. Furthermore, Michael has fought a variety of foes, from gangsters, mob bosses, and even aliens. Despite being more of a lover, Michael is also a great fighter, able to use his dancing abilities, and turn it into a dance fighting style, like using his kick move for attacks, and his moonwalk to evade attacks, and other moves to defeat his foes. One time he even knew a guy was behind him, and shot him without even looking.

We’ll go into this more later, but in some music video’s lyrics, it implies he’s been alive for forty thousand years, we know he was around during the era of Ancient Egyptians, and by the time of Space Channel 5, it has been five hundred years since his adventures during Moonwalker, and his superstardom has transcended the limits of ordinary of ordinary people.

Abilities

Toon Force

That’s right ladies and gentlemen, despite his realistic appearance. Michael Jackson is a toon, which gives him a variety of abilities like, keeping himself invisible to camera’s, turning invisible, Hammerspace, super speed, sing as a picture in a newspaper article and through a dollar bill, teleport, ignore gravity, fourth wall awareness, stretch his face and eyes, pull off his entire skin to reveal his skeleton and break said skeleton to revert back to his natural face, and finally, literally pull off his clothes and entire skin to become a living skeleton which can pull his head off and back on. Heck, his rabbit costume can become its own person.

Duplication

Since his early solo days, Michael has repeatedly been shown to be able to make duplicates of himself, in his first music video, Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough, he made two clones, by the time of his music video with Eddie Murphy, he could make nine.

Appearance Manipulation

Michael has the ability to manipulate the clothing appearance of himself, and others.

Fire Manipulation

MJ can manipulate and control fire.

Lightning Manipulation

Can summon Lightning with a snap, as seen above.

Forcefield Creation

Michael can summon a forcefield barrier to block attacks.

Flight

Michael can fly as seen above.

Bang

With a point of his finger, Michael caused glass to break to shatter and explode, eat your heart out Makima.

Energy Blast

Through his kicks, spins, points, or simply by just raising his hands, Michael can release energy blast Kamehameha style, he can even charge it for greater effect.

Non-Physical Interaction

Michael can interact with and destroy Ghost.

Telekensis

Can use telekinesis to close and open doors.

Possession

Michael has the ability to possess others, and could literally pull his arm from the mayor (who he was possessing) stomach, and turn the mayor into a zombie while still possessing him.

Size Manipulation

As seen here, Michael can grow to the size larger than a mountain, and even grow so large you can see him from space.

Transformations

If there is one ability synonymous with Michael Jackson, are his thousands of transformations. Michael can literally turn into anything he wants, whether it be with a spin or in an instant. Michael can turn into a pumpkin man, spider monster, crow, werewolf, zombie, Spike The Rabbit, policewomen, construction worker, panther, sand, cosmic cloud, giant monster, giant robot, and even the freaking moon.

Dream Manipulation

The events of Thriller happened in his girlfriend's dream, however as the walk home, Michael turns his head revealing his evil golden eyes, meaning he was controlling her dream the whole time.

Magic

Michael Jackson has a variety of magical abilities, these include magical energy blast, transmutation of many kinds, like turning people into monsters, reverting people from zombies back to humans, turning aliens to humans, shoot light beams, turn objects into different objects, altering his environment, bring inanimate objects to life, control others, turn entire planet into a greek paradise, create and walk on musical notes, spin and disappear turning into sand which blows away, smash himself and eventually crumble into to dust and disappear, and create objects of his choosing like a stop sign.

Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough

You know how I said Mj can control people. Well that includes the ability to literally force his foes to dance…until they die.

Summoning

MJ can summon anyone of his choosing to help him in a dance routine or even in a fight. This includes the likes of Ghost which he can resurrect and if he wants, and control them, he can even turn them into Zombies, or just summon zombies to make the process easier. His Ghouls can walk up walls and fly, and even create tiny monsters from their tongues. He can, and I’m not even joking, summon the entire Romania army at his beck and call, and he can also summon Bubbles, who also can turn Michael into his robot form if he doesn’t want to use his wishing star.

Scream

Michael’s screams are powerful, he can scream so loud it breaks glass, scream so loud it shatters lights and causes a thunderous clouds to appear, and greatest of all, Michael can sing so loud and so passionate that it causes a global storm, that undoes the damage done to the entire Earth, and even brings an Elephant back to life.

Aura

The original aura farmer, Mj’s aura is so powerful that it can cause people to pass out, and even cause sign to malfunction and explode.

Purification/Power Nullification

Michael can undo the dragon transformation and powers of Conformity and turn her into a good person.

Wish Manipulation

Jackson might just have wish manipulation. Throughout the film, Moonwalker, three stars appear at extremely convenient times, making it unclear if Jackson is summoning it himself, the stars choosing to make an appearance to support Jackson himself, or he’s just really lucky. The wishes help him escape gun fire, turns him into a car with guns that can drive extremely fast, and turn into a giant robot.

In the game it appears as if he can summon his wishing star to become his robot self.

Immortality

As said earlier, by the time of Space Channel Five, it has been five hundred years since his adventures during Moonwalker, he was around during the era of Ancient Egyptians, and we’ll dive into it soon, it's implied he’s been alive for forty thousand years.

Equipment

Tommy Gun

He’s packing heat.

Gun

Has a gun that can erase you from existence.

Ships

From his video in Leave Me Alone, he has a ship to fly around, as seen above. He also has a ship during his adventures in Captain Eo, that can dodge laser fire and destroy asteroids, and seemingly enter its own form of hyperspace. And he has another space ship, in his music video Scream, which has the ability to alter gravity from the inside.

Boxing Gloves

As seen above he has boxing gloves.

Space Channel Microphone

The microphone transforms into a "Tension Blaster" to shoot aliens, robots, and other attackers.

Jetpack

Has a Jetpack.

Forms

Robot Michael

Be it through Bubbles, or his Wishing Star, Michael can turn into a giant robot. Robot Michael can create barriers and fire missiles. He has a scream that can blow up faces, fire off laser blast, and basically become a transformer, he can literally turn into a ship.

The Thriller

You want to know why Michael has tons of transformations, magic, immortality, and access to the dead. Well, that’s because he is actually an ancient entity known as The Thriller. Not much is known about The Thriller, other than the power’s we’ve seen him display. What the lyrics do tell us is that his true form is a sight that can almost stop your heart and leave you paralyzed.

Thriller’s true form also has forty eyes, and as we know, has control over the dead. He’s a trickster, and loves to see his prey terrorized. Further supporting his immortality, the song says no mere mortal can resist the evil of The Thriller. He also may have access to Cerberus, due to the line, To terrorize y'all's neighborhood, And whosoever shall be found, Without the soul for getting down, Must stand and face the hounds of hell.”

However, it seems with time,Thriller’s evil subsided, and now he dedicates himself to bringing peace to the world, however, he still likes tricks and scaring people in his free time, without malicious intent these days.

Power

Speed

Durability

Scaling

Michael obviously scales to everyone in his own music videos, games, and films. The world revolves around him, and he is The Thriller, after all. But what about Ulala? Well she does end up saving him from mind control, but overall, Michael is way older than her, is the President of Space Channel Five, and even helps her defeat Purge alongside others, and keep up with her while dancing, is said to transcend “space and time by dancing”,some may disagree, but I think some level of scaling is fair here.

Weakness

I love to tour 🤌” ❤️ my guy wanted to relax ok : r/MichaelJackson

Michael doesn’t have many physical weaknesses. He has been at times prone to anger, especially when seeing injustice, which has led to some moments of being overwhelmed, but overall he’s such a physical and magical juggernaut in most of his media that it’s rarely a problem. However, in The Space Channel 5 series, he has been prone to mind control, however this takes extremely powerful foes for this to work on MJ.

He loves to tour.

Potential Matchups that I like

Miku vs Michael Jackson

Hatsune Miku vs Michael Jackson

(Vocaloid VS MJJ Productions)

"They☆Don't☆Care☆About☆LOVE!"

The Meaning Beneath The Music

There is more to this matchup than simply “popular musicians”. It’s an extremely, deeply poetic matchup (at least from my perspective) that meshes the past and present, the internet and humanity as well as a man that inspired billions to be anything they could ever dream of and a girl that could be anything anybody could ever think of. No matter the cost for either of them.

MJ, throughout his musical career, was one of the most naturally talented men on the face of the planet. No matter who you put him next to he stood out above every single other vocalist for his unmatchable voice; the instrument that was able to bring the entire world to its feet and even to life. The biggest messages and desires he expressed through it were in songs like Man in The Mirror and Earth Song, all to do with making changes, being better, being ANYTHING anybody could ever hope to be and dream of. It’s Human Nature to improve and dream and he believed anybody could overcome their struggles to do it.

In the song They Don’t Care About Us, he spent his entire time in Rio and Bahia connecting with people, feeding them, renovating homes. He desperately wanted to find that human connection with the people lower on the ladder than him; and the tragic part about MJ is that the very fame that gave him these opportunities is what kept him so isolated from the common man; from every person on the planet he wanted to connect with. He loved people, the music that he made was directed to inspire them, that no matter their differences, Black or White, no matter how Bad you are; you deserve to be Happy and You Are Not Alone.

His songs sing not just to the love he feels for people and the world, but his pain as an artist, his history and the abuse he suffered all through the years that eventually led to his unfortunate death. He smiled through it all, he was truly an unmatchable talent in life and even in death his music helps remind people that Heaven Can Wait; there’s still so much left to do.

Then you look at the other side of this matchup, Hatsune Miku.

From her creation to the present she has been hailed as the best and most popular of Vocaloid’s line. Outshining them all for one for one fact above them all, she could truly be absolutely anything, appeal to everybody, and have her inspiration be created by anyone. Supernova, M@GICAL☆CURE! LOVE SHOT!, Konton Boogie. Just naming a few all created and watching, listening to any of them, she isn’t just a girl with Blue Hair and a Blue Tie. Her mere existence Hiding In Your Wifi as an instrument inspires the world to make her absolutely anything. And that’s more than an Open Secret.

And despite what could be at her expense all she wants is to see humanity happy. And tragically, no matter how famous she becomes and how happy she makes the people that manipulate her voice for music that makes the world a better place… She is unable to make a single true human connection with any of them; the virtual girl always left Longing. And even with this struggle she strives to overcome any barrier, be whatever she can and inspire others to create. It’ll always be more than an Imaginary Love Story with no ending to her, even if sometimes those songs come with the Confessions of A Rotten Girl…

And Miku’s pain comes reflected in plenty of her music too, the struggles of all the users that create music from her software is a big burden to carry for just one lil’ robot magical girl that’s sure to live in the virtual world forever. Even if at times all she’s capable of doing is Monitoring humanity with no voice to hear her, it’ll eventually break through the Static and prove she will always have more to say and sing. From now until the end of time.

They can be and often are tragic figures in their music. They are inspired figures, iconic ones. Even if disconnected from the worlds they so desperately wanted to find a way to be amongst, they continue to show the people they’ve inspired, and been inspired by, that they can be brought together through a collective vision,

And a collective voice.

She is The First Sound of The Future

He is The Moonwalker

They are Hatsune Miku and Michael Jackson.

Also, fun fact, they both have a very funny connection to Sega and very specifically Sonic of all characters. Miku’s is super well known already (THEY HAVE A CHILD???). Meanwhile with Jackson he’s been stated and credited as actively helping with creating music for Sonic The Hedgehog 3 (released in 1984), Sonic’s iconic shoes were inspired by Michael’s album Bad and NOT ONLY THAT MJ has also been said to be an inspiration for Sonic’s personality as a whole.

Steven Universe vs Michael Jackson

Both are heavily built around fictionalized emotional mythology rather than strict realism. Steven is an exaggerated emotional fantasy hero, while MJ is essentially a mythic performance character created through films, music videos, TV appearances, stage performances, games, and story-driven visual worlds. Both exist in universes where music and emotion feel powerful enough to physically change the world around them. Both are emotionally driven protagonists who fight darkness through compassion, unity, expression, and connection rather than pure violence. Both balance warmth and optimism with genuinely dark subject matter underneath the surface.

Steven Universe tackles:

  • Generational trauma,

  • War,

  • Identity crises,

  • Emotional repression,

  • Abuse of power,

  • Abandonment,

  • And the fear of becoming what others expect you to be.

MJ stories and videos tackle:

  • Gang violence (Beat It, Bad),

  • Racial division and equality (Black or White),

  • Paranoia and fame becoming dangerous (Billie Jean, Leave Me Alone),

  • Isolation caused by superstardom,

  • Media obsession,

  • Corruption,

  • Horror imagery and death symbolism (Thriller, Ghosts),

  • Environmental destruction (Earth Song),

  • And the idea of humanity losing its soul.

Yet despite those darker themes, both worlds still maintain hope at their core instead of becoming cynical. Both portray kindness and empathy as strengths powerful enough to challenge hatred, fear, or corruption. Both use fantasy imagery to process real emotions:

  • Steven uses Gems, monsters, and cosmic powers.

  • MJ uses zombies, ghosts, gang wars, moonlit alleyways, giant robots, surreal dream spaces, and supernatural transformations.

Both characters often feel emotionally older than they should be because of the expectations constantly placed on them. Both are connected to themes of healing broken people instead of simply defeating enemies. Captain EO especially feels incredibly close to Steven Universe in spirit:

  • Both involve colorful cosmic teams traveling through space,

  • Music literally transforming darkness into light,

  • Emotionally changing villains rather than destroying them,

  • Surreal alien aesthetics,

  • And a hopeful “love/music can heal the universe” philosophy.

Captain EO and Steven also both have that earnest emotional sincerity where the protagonist genuinely believes compassion can save people — and somehow it actually works.

Both franchises have moments where performance itself becomes almost magical:

  • Steven sings emotional truths into existence.

  • MJ dances and performs in ways framed almost like supernatural power displays.

Both frequently blur the line between reality and fantasy through dreamlike visual storytelling.

Both have worlds where emotional breakdowns can become massive cinematic events rather than quiet private moments. Both mix innocence with unsettling imagery:

  • Steven Universe can suddenly shift into body horror, corrupted monsters, or emotional trauma.

  • MJ can shift from smooth performance energy into werewolves, zombies, haunted mansions, violent streets, or apocalyptic imagery.

Both have protagonists associated with bringing people together across divisions.

Both stories care deeply about outsiders, misunderstood people, and those rejected by society.

Both use visual symbolism heavily:

  • Steven’s stars, pink glow, gemstones, and light motifs.

  • MJ’s moonlight, shadows, glowing stages, mirrors, masks, and transformation imagery.

Both have “larger than life but emotionally lonely” energy surrounding the main character.

Both often portray crowds and public attention as overwhelming or dangerous:

  • Steven struggles with everyone projecting expectations onto him.

  • MJ stories often portray fame almost like a supernatural force consuming individuality.

Both feature protagonists trying to carry impossible emotional burdens while still wanting to protect others. Both can switch from goofy and charming to deeply emotional or disturbing almost instantly without losing their identity. Both are remembered not just because they were visually spectacular, but because the emotion underneath the spectacle felt sincere. Both portray love as something active and powerful, not weak or passive. Both worlds treat emotional vulnerability as heroic. Both have a very “humanity can still be saved” worldview despite showing how ugly the world can become. MJ especially feels similar to Steven because many of his fictional portrayals are not really about celebrity at all — they’re about a symbolic figure trying to bring light, unity, wonder, and compassion into worlds consumed by fear, violence, greed, or emotional emptiness. At their core, both Steven Universe and MJ are deeply emotional fantasy worlds disguised as entertainment spectacles.

Michael Jackson vs Pauline

Both MJ and Pauline are performance-driven icons whose identities are deeply tied to music, stage presence, and entertaining crowds. Both evolved far beyond their original roles over time:

  • Pauline started as simply “the girl kidnapped by Donkey Kong,” but later became a charismatic singer, mayor, and performer.

  • MJ evolved from the “pop star” little brother of The Jackson Five into a mythic multimedia hero figure across short films, concerts, games, and fantasy stories.

Both of these musical geniuses are associated with cities that feel alive because of music and celebration:

  • Pauline practically embodies the spirit of New Donk City.

  • MJ’s worlds often transform entire streets, clubs, and cities through rhythm and performance.

Both can shift a crowd’s emotions almost instantly through charisma alone and mix elegance with theatricality — classy fashion, dramatic entrances, and commanding stage energy. MJ and Pauline are surprisingly versatile figures who can fit heartfelt, comedic, stylish, or larger-than-life stories without feeling out of place. Both use music as something communal rather than purely personal:

  • Pauline unites people through festivals and concerts.

  • MJ often uses songs to unite divided people, stop violence, or inspire hope.

Both carry a retro-yet-timeless energy tied to classic entertainment eras while still feeling modern and are heavily connected to dance and movement as extensions of personality rather than just skills. They represent optimism and joy while still having mature undertones underneath:

  • Pauline often represents rebuilding community and civic pride.

  • MJ stories frequently tackle isolation, fear, prejudice, fame, and darkness through uplifting expression.

Both are remembered not just for “what they do,” but for how they make people feel…they also are both friends with monkeys lol.

Michael vs Sonic (Sonic Underground)

Sonic from the games is a MJ matchup, and for good reason. Sonic was inspired by Michael, especially when pertaining to his shoes being inspired from the Bad album cover. However, I feel that would be a waste of a matchup, and a complete stomp in Sonic’s favor. However, where Game Sonic fails, Underground Sonic succeeds.

Michael and Sonic are music-driven heroes whose identities are inseparable from rhythm and performance, who use their music not just as entertainment, but as a weapon, source of power, and symbol of freedom. Both are rebellious performers fighting oppressive systems and combine flashy style with sincere heroism. Both are associated with movement and rhythm as extensions of personality:

  • Sonic through speed.

  • MJ through dance.

Both have worlds where performances can literally affect reality around them and can balance fun energy with surprisingly serious themes:

  • Sonic Underground deals with dictatorship, family separation, and rebellion.

  • Fictional MJ stories tackle fear, corruption, violence, media obsession, isolation, and social division.

MJ and Sonic are part of fictional universes where musical expression becomes revolutionary. Both are stylish icons recognized instantly through silhouette alone and inspire hope in oppressed or struggling people. Both are emotionally driven leaders despite sometimes acting playful or carefree. They can use rhythm to unite people against fear and control. Both have theatrical presentation styles filled with dramatic entrances, choreography, and larger-than-life flair. Both also carry strong themes of destiny:

  • Sonic Underground revolves around restoring the royal family and saving Mobius.

  • MJ portrayals often frame him like a destined performer meant to heal or awaken people through music.

Both mix coolness with sincerity instead of cynicism and they feel like “living concerts” whenever they appear onscreen. Both embody freedom:

  • freedom of movement,

  • freedom of self-expression,

  • and freedom from fear.

They were both also apart of a band with their siblings (The Jackson Five and Sonic Underground)

Michael vs Naruto

Yes, this is a matchup, and yeah, I kinda like it. Michael and Naruto started out as misunderstood outsiders who eventually became symbols of hope and inspiration. Both have stories centered around loneliness, perseverance, and earning acceptance from the world around them. Michael and Naruto transform emotional pain into motivation to uplift others. Both possess overwhelming energy and charisma capable of inspiring entire crowds or communities.

Both are known for refusing to give up even when emotionally exhausted. Both believe in reaching people emotionally instead of simply defeating them physically. They repeatedly try to redeem or understand people consumed by darkness, and are associated with light imagery and radiant presence:

  • Naruto through chakra and heroic symbolism.

  • MJ through stage lighting, glowing visuals, celestial imagery, and inspirational presentation.

Both have duality in their worlds:

  • joyful optimism mixed with darker themes like hatred, violence, isolation, and fear.

MJ and Naruto become larger-than-life legendary figures inside their universes and have transformations or heightened states that feel mythic and symbolic rather than purely practical.

Both are deeply tied to themes of legacy and changing the future generation. They inspire unity across divided groups. Both are emotional fighters:

  • Naruto through literal combat fueled by bonds.

  • Fictional MJ through dance, music, performance, and symbolic confrontations.

Both are associated with iconic signatures recognized instantly worldwide:

  • Naruto’s orange outfit, shadow clones, and Rasengan.

  • MJ’s glove, hat, dance style, vocal sounds, and silhouette.

Both carry enormous emotional weight beneath energetic personalities and ultimately represent hope overcoming hatred.

Michael vs Beast Boy

This was a late stage add, while I added final touches to the blog, which is why you find  Beast Boy in the tier list below, just know that he’s my favorite alt, almost close to being a part of the one. MJ and BB are emotionally expressive, hyper-energetic who hide genuine emotional pain behind playful charisma and goofy public personas. People often underestimate them because they seem “fun” at first.

They are associated with transformation, Michael Jackson constantly reinvented his sounds, eras, and performance identities, and has a great variety of transformations like zombies, animals, and robots, while Beast Boy transforms into different animals.

Both have a strong “outsider” element tied to their identities. Beast Boy looks physically different from normal humans due to his powers, while MJ stories/videos often portray him as isolated, misunderstood, surreal, or treated like an anomaly by society and the media.

Both balance comedy with darker subject matter. Beast Boy stories can suddenly hit themes like abandonment, trauma, doom, and fear of losing loved ones, while MJ worlds explore paranoia, gang violence, fame becoming dangerous, horror imagery, corruption, loneliness, environmental destruction, and social division. They are deeply tied to rhythm and movement. Beast Boy fights with acrobatic unpredictability and animal-like motion, while MJ’s entire identity revolves around movement feeling almost superhuman or magical.

Both are associated with green imagery/aesthetics in different ways. Beast Boy is literally green, while MJ’s fictional worlds repeatedly connect him to nature, Earth symbolism, forests, healing, and environmental themes (especially in works like Earth Song or Heal the World).

They both use emotional connection rather than intimidation as their greatest strength. They win people over through heart, empathy, and personality and they can switch from goofy to terrifyingly serious almost instantly. Beast Boy has moments where his rage becomes genuinely intimidating, while MJ could shift from playful performer to intense, almost supernatural presence in things like Ghosts, Thriller, or Smooth Criminal.

Both are tied to animal symbolism. Beast Boy literally becomes animals, while MJ’s fictional imagery constantly connects him to panthers, birds, snakes, cheetahs, rabbits, and other creatures through choreography, symbolism, costumes, and transformations.

Both have stories centered around identity and acceptance:

  • Beast Boy struggles with belonging and self-worth because of what he is.

  • MJ stories often revolve around not fitting into society, being misunderstood, or trying to preserve humanity in worlds obsessed with image, fear, or conformity.

Both have surprisingly massive emotional intelligence beneath the silliness. They notice when people are hurting and often become the emotional glue of their groups.

Both are associated with teams/found families:

  • Beast Boy with the Teen Titans.

  • MJ often with dancers, children, communities, rebels, or united crowds standing against darkness together.

They can both embody controlled chaos:

  • Beast Boy through wild shapeshifting combat.

  • MJ through explosive choreography, cinematic music video worlds, sudden tonal shifts, and genre-bending performance energy.

Both feel younger and more emotionally open than many around them, which makes their darker or more vulnerable moments hit harder. Both have an underlying theme of refusing to lose childlike wonder despite living in worlds filled with pain, danger, and cynicism.

This matchup works with any version of Beast Boy, though admittedly comics Beast Boy is a stomp in Garfield's favor, while 2003 Beast Boy is a stomp in MJ’s favor, not sure about TTG, but I do think that one works probably the best with MJ’s toon like nature, and music since he too sings a lot. Also fun fact, in real life, Michael Jackson was a vegetarian, just like Beast Boy, and his voice actor Greg Ciphes.

Thank you for reading, God Bless
