Uraraka vs April
“You have two hands: One to help yourself, the second to help others.”
- Audrey Hepburn
Ochako Uraraka, Class 1-A Gravity Defying Infinity Girl Hero Uravity from My Hero Academia
April O’neil, Kunoichi and best friend of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from…uh…Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
At the beginning of every journey, we all start off somewhat weak, which can at times be frustrating, especially when our goals are closely tied with helping the people we love, including our families. But with time, we will overcome our struggles, and not only achieve our original goals, but in time, help those who are used to helping others. This defines our two combatants today, who both have powerful abilities giving them control over their environment, and we’ll find out who will win in a DeathBattle!
Hol up….
When determining what to focus on, I went back and forth on this. Obviously, when it comes to Uraraka it’s pretty straightforward. Everything that’s canon to My Hero Academia, basically the manga, anime, and movies will be taken into account for her. It’s for April where things became a bit more tricky.
I first debated which April I wanted to focus on for this blog, would I composite or would I focus on one specific April? I originally wanted to semi-composite 2K12 and Rise April, but after thinking it over, I decided to only focus on 2k12 April, who is the April most thematic with Ochako, and overall is the one who makes this matchup work.
Finally, I’m aware of Cross-Scaling the TMNT verses, and their arguments, but for this blog, I’m only sticking with 2k12 itself and the 1987 verse, as I rather keep this one grounded. With that said, let's begin shall we.

Before we get started I’d be remiss if I didn't give credit to the blogs that helped me tons, especially when it came to scaling. This would be my boy Round1’s Mina vs Jubilee blog, Saul’s Splinter vs Shifu blog, and every modern G1 related MHA blog. Thanks so much, especially Round 1 and Saul’s blog, those in particular were the biggest help….
Uraraka is totally stronger than Mina Round ol buddy
Ochako Uraraka
Background
When I saw him struggling, with the odds stacked against him... it got me thinking... Who protects the heroes when they need protecting?
U.A, the most prodigious heroic academy in Japan, is responsible for the training of some of the greatest heroes of all time. Heroes like Edgeshot, Best Jeanist, Endeavor, and most importantly the greatest hero of all time, All Might. When you come to U.A, it’s almost guaranteed you’ll become a great hero, and that’s exactly what Ochako Uraraka was hoping to be when she entered the Entrance Exam.
You see, young Uraraka grew up poor, as her parents' construction business was not receiving significant business, affecting her lifestyle. Due to this, especially given her gravity quirk, Ochako aimed to help her parents with their business, and support them. However, her parents told Ochaco that the way to truly make them happy would be for their daughter to achieve her own dreams. So, she decided to become a Pro Hero, not just to help people, but also to make enough money to give her parents an easy life.
While taking the exam, she would meet Izuku Midoriya, who would later save her from a giant Zero Pointer robot, sparking a connection between the two, she would even go to the teachers to give him some of her points, because she knew he risked his own score to save her. No worries though, as they both were accepted into U.A., and would be apart of the same Class 1-A, becoming friends with Tenya Iida, becoming a trio. Uraraka would continue her training at U.A to become a hero, surviving a villain attack at the USJ, making it to the third round of the Sports Festival and holding her own against Bakugo, and even interning at Gunhead’s agency learning martial arts.
However her real challenge would arrive in the form of Himiko Toga, during an attack by villains at their summer training camp. While she would survive the attack, and the villains were stopped, her encounter with this girl would change her view of what it means to be a hero, and her goals as well. Especially when encountering her during the Paranormal Liberation War, where she and Toga would fight, and while at first rebuking Himiko for her crimes, she would see in her a girl hurt by the world and society all for a quirk she could not control, not only that, she would see the damage villains had caused, and how much it hurt the heroes, leaving her wondering, “Who protects the heroes when they need protecting”?
Not only that, her best friend, Izuku, was revealed to be the carrier of One for All, becoming a target for the villains, and causing him to leave U.A to handle the fight alone. However Class 1-A, would not let this be, and got him back, and when the citizens staying at U.A, due to the crisis, the people rejected him, Uraraka herself would be the one to give a speech so powerful, it would cause the citizens to change their minds and allow him in.
Uraraka would participate in the final war, and would battle Toga once more.
During it, she would reveal to her that since she was a child the thing that made her happy was seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces, and as a hero, that’s what she wanted to do, see people smile, including Toga. Despite her injuries, she would not only succeed in stopping Sad Man’s Parade from engulfing Japan, but she would also save Toga’s soul and smile, and Toga would sacrifice herself to save Uraraka's life. While saddened by this, with the help of Izuku and her friends, she would move, complete her journey at U.A, and become a hero, the No. 24 hero, and even spearheading Quirk Counseling business, to help kids with quirks like Toga, so they won’t fall into the path of villainy. And after the Class 1-A reunion to celebrate Shoto’s rise to the number 2 spot, she knew she was happy, but she also wanted something more, and with a push from a long gone friend, she and Izuku would do just that, not bad.
Experience and Skills
By the time of the end of the series, is more than capable as a hero and fighter, having risen to the NO. 24 spots, and participating in a war. Furthermore, during her hero training years, she showed remarkable skills. Ochako may not be the smartest student in her class (ranked 13 in mid term grades), she’s a quick thinker, able to notices Kurogiri's neck armor and grabs it in time to float it, apply quick thinking to allow her to use her jacket as a decoy to avoid Bakugo’s explosions and come up with a plan to stay low to the ground and have Bakugo’s explosions create debris that she could float and then later use them all to attack him later. She also was able to deduce how Toga’s misdirection attacks works and saves Tsuyu, while also deducing what type of heroes are needed to defeat her.
Finally, due to her internship with Pro Hero, Gunhead, she learned how to combine her quirk with martial arts, well eventually. You see, Gunhead Martial Arts focuses on close range combat, and she specifically learns how to fight someone with a knife (opponents like Toga). She has mastered several forms of grappling, take-downs, and throws using force, including her opponents' force against themselves, which she used to take down Thirteen and Toga, while even combining her quirks touch based ability to her advantage.
Equipment
Hero Costume
Ochako’s costume was specifically tailored for her Quirk, and minimize the negative effects of her Quirk, like a helmet that reduces the stimulation of the semicircular canals located inside each ear, wrist armor that contains a device that clamps down and releases like a blood pressure gauge, stimulating the pressure points around the wrist area that suppress nausea, a neck guard that stimulates the pressure points around the neck area, thereby reducing headaches, and leg armor to break her fall from elevation with sole at her toes that are equipped with a shock-absorbing cushion and her heel contains a reinforced spring to soften the shock.
Jet Thruster
Ochako had her costume upgraded to include thrusters in her soles on her feet, which allow her to propel herself through the air, as if she were flying.
Grappling Hooks
After witnessing Blackwhip, and seeing Deku’s use of it, Ochako had her costume upgraded with several grappling hooks that she uses to launch debris or grabbing people similar to Blackwhip.
Abilities
Zero-Gravity
Ochako’s Quirk is Zero-Gravity, which can nullify the gravitational pull of anything she touches, both living and non-living, by touching them with the pads on her fingertips, causing them to become weightless and float. She can undo the effects by touching her finger pads together.
With her quirk, she has used it to make herself and others float, make a pillar weightless and use it as a bat, get an infinity score with ball test with her quirk, float tons of debris, hold up tons of rocks, push heavy objects like the Cage Gate’s used to house the villains in the final war, and even use float on rocks to create an avalanche.
Originally, Ochako could only use her quirk to float people and objects that weighed three tons, exceeding that limit, overuse, or even floating herself would cause her to experience nausea and hurl.
However, not only has this been mitigated due to training, but during the final battle with Toga, she experienced a Quirk Awakening due to almost being on the brink of death, allowed her Zero Gravities effects to evolve to the point where she can spread it among different targets touching each other, without Ochacko having to touch them all herself.
Her awakening also removed Ochacko's weight limit of three tons, like when she lifted the entirety of Sad Man’s Parade, and allowed her to set down her weightless targets in a slower fashion, without pressing her fingertips together.
Skill Release
Skill Release allows Ochako to press her fingertips together and make whatever she has touched stop floating, from robots to people, like Izuku, as seen above.
Meteor Shower
In combo with Skill Release, Uraraka, after floating a large quantity of rubble surrounding her, can collect the collaterally damaged structures, forming a giant meteor of debris above her opponents, which she then causes to fall.
Zero Satellite
Zero Satellite is a technique where Uraraka floats nearby debris and objects and with the addition of her grappling hooks, attacks her opponent by slamming the debris straight at them, basically a close range version of Meteor Shower.
Spacewalk
With the help of her grappling hooks, Uraraka can hook herself onto an opponent and reel herself in, closing the distance between herself and her opponent, all while under the effects of Zero Gravity.
Gravity Plus
In combination with her martial arts skills, and after touching her opponent, she can make them float, and then grab them by the arm and throw them over her shoulder to the ground.
Comet Home Run
By grabbing a pillar and touching some rubble, by making them weightless, Uraraka can forcefully hit the rubble at her enemy.
Weaknesses
Uraraka is a strong hero, and a capable fighter, but she’s not perfect. She has indomitable will, and she won’t quit in a fight, no matter what, even if it could end in her death, like in her final battle with Toga, where she would've died if not for Toga’s sacrifice. She does technically have the weakness of weight limit, floating herself, and overuse of her quirk, but this has been mitigated a lot, due to training and her Quirk Awakening, so her current limit is unknown.
April O’neil
Background
"When was the last time you saw someone hit a guy over the head with their mind?"
April O’neil was your average, normal teenage girl living in the big apple, with only her father, her mother having passed when she was only a little girl, but overall she was content. This would all change on one fateful night, where she and her dad were not only abducted by well dressed men, with aliens in their chest named the Kraang, but also that same night she would be saved by four brothers her age…all of whom were mutant turtles, and the tallest one just so happened to have a crush on her….greattttt.
Nevertheless, she would befriend these turtle boys, and together they would team up, to save her father, beat the Foot Clan, and stop the Kraang. April would even begin training with the Turtle’s very own master, Splinter, to become a Kunoichi. However, something that continued to allude to the Turtles and April, was the question of why The Kraang were after her in the first place. Turns out that the reason why was due to the fact that, for centuries, the Kraang, in their attempt to perfect the mutagen in the Earth Dimension, would experiment on April’s family, including her mother, which led to her death, April’s DNA was the key to perfecting it. Furthermore, this led to April developing physic powers, further enhancing her desire to stand as equal to her friends, and defeat the Kraang, especially due to her rivalry with Karai.
Her journey with the Turtles, would even take April on interstellar adventures, and on the planet of The Aeons, and would gain a crystal that would help her focus her powers. However, this would later become an issue, when back on Earth, April would learn that the soul of an Aeon was in the crystal, and would try to implant itself into April’s mind making her violent. Even worse, while under her control, April would accidentally kill Donnie. She’d break free, and defeat the Aeon, and even bring Don back to life.
While the crystal was gone, and its power, April’s own powers were now under control, and she finally became a Kunochi who can fight equally with her friends.
Experience and Skills
While she started the series as your typical damsel in distress, by the end of it, April has become something much more. First, April is a Kunoichi (a female ninja), who was trained by Master Splinter, who is known as the greatest ninja in a century, and April became a Kunoichi in just a year's time. During that year, April has encountered and fought aliens, mutants, and monsters. On top of that, she mastered her powers in that year as well, with the help of Fugitoid of course. Later on Splinter would say that she has a greater intuition than all four turtles, saying that “it was near perfection”. She even beat Raph and a sparring fight once.
Furthermore, by the series end, she is able to fight amongst the Turtles with little issues, and even keep up with them, having defeated the likes of Foot Bots (including the Elite’s as seen above), Kraang, Razhor, and even Tiger Claw. Finally, April is incredibly smart, being only one of the few people who can understand what Donnie is saying when it comes to his techno-babble, and even help him with his experiments. She also knew exactly what Noran did to Donnie, being able to explain it as molecularly scattering him.
Equipment
Tessen
When beginning her training, Splinter made sure April would have a weapon at her side, like his sons. Initially she struggled to find the perfect weapon, till she stumbled upon the Tessen. This is April’s signature weapon. The Tessen is a folding fan with outer spokes made of heavy plates of iron which were designed to look like normal, harmless folding fans. April has molded her fighting style around this weapon, including even using her telekinesis with it to cut down her foes.
Blaster
During her adventures in space, April would gain a blaster, one powerful to take down Lord Dreggs bugs and robots.
Dragon Tantō
The Dragon Tantō was given to April, the night she became a Kunoichi. It’s a short Japanese Sword, almost a dagger. April is able to wield the weapon in unison with her tessen.
Shuriken
As a ninja, April comes armed with shiruken’s, just like the Turtles, which she used to take down Foot Bots.
Aeon Crystal
The Aeon Crystal was given to April for helping the Aeon’s restore their planet. Originally meant just to help April focus her powers, soon April would become addicted to its power, even violent if parted with it. This was because Za-Naron's soul was corrupting her mind, and trying to take over April’s mind. She nearly succeeded if it wasn’t for the help of her friends, and the memories she had of Donnie. While under Naron’s spell, April’s powers were boosted, and she even gained new one’s, like the ability to molecularly scatter someone, which Donnie referred to as being “reduced to a quantum smear”.
Before you ask, April has not shown the ability to do this without the crystal, furthermore she was only able to undo its effects with the remaining pieces of energy to save Donnie’s life. Leaving it questionable if she could redo it, the crystal boosted her powers to the point of her being able to do this, but afterwards while still strong, even stronger, she was confirmed to be not as powerful when she had the crystal. For example, with the crystal, April can fully keep someone paused in the air, and hit them with a different object for as long as she wants, even without lifting a hand. She cannot do this normally, as she must use her hands to use her telekinesis, she could also only fly with the crystal, alone she can levitate herself, and other’s, but only for so long.
Also, the crystal was destroyed, making it questionable if she should get it.
Abilities
Human/Alien Hybrid
Due to the experimentation done to April’s family by the Kraang, April is not just human. According to Donnie, April is half human/half Kraang, making her a mutant. Because of this, April is much stronger than your average human, being able to harm the likes of Fishface, Bradford, and Tiger Claw, all mutants. She can survive hits from Super Shredder, Kraang (87), Newtralizer, and Lord Dregg. Also, she is immune to the effects of mutagen, and has gained an energy that is attuned to the universe.
Extrasensory Perception
April’s powers give her exceptional senses, the first signs of her abilities, was able to sense the location, and sense that the monkey was Rockwell. She could sense that Donnie was following her, and could accurately throw her Tessen to strike him behind the trashcan, her powers not only allowed her to sense Splinter’s location in the sewers, but also see his fight with Shredder without her being there, could sense The Dream Beavers draining the Turtles life force, she could not only sense that only hundreds people were left in New York, but could also sense and see her father and the other humans in Dimension X.
Despite not remembering the reason, she was able to sense danger in Casey's wish for some action, and she could sense the sewer being filled with fire, before they could see it. April can also have premonitions of future danger, like when she had one about Casey being killed by mysterious blades. Finally, she can feel someone’s aura, and if it’s in alignment. However, she has admitted that tracking humans with her powers is harder than tracking mutants.
Telepathy
April is also equipped with the ability of Telepathy, for example with her mental energy she can send out powerful blasts, as seen above. In fact, enraged, April could send out blasts powerful enough to hurt Super Shredder, and throw him off the roof. With this power, she could hear a sound Splinter could not, and was able to use this to locate a Kraang device in the sewers, send a mental wave of energy which could knock back Kraang’s, and destroy a rejected clone with her power.
She could enter into the dreams of the turtles, and communicate with them, she could use her telepathy to reawaken Splinter’s mind and return him to normal, and overwhelm Overlord and communicate with Fugitod’s mind which was buried by Overlord and help him break free. She, with the help of Fugitoid machine, projected the Turtles into Mikey’s mind, and guided the Turtles through his mind. April is also immune to a planet's ability to manipulate emotions and make you angrier.
She is also able to sense when someone is lying or telling the truth, or even if they're hiding something.
Telekensis
April can use telekinesis, to pick up, push, pull, and repel objects and people, in fact it doesn’t have to be physical, as she uses her powers on the elements, like water. She can levitate herself and others, and if she is falling, she can stop her fall with her powers.
April was able to stop and repel Super Shredder, sending him flying with her powers. She was able to briefly hold back an oil tanker and keep it in the air, with struggle.
Shields
With her powers, she could form barriers, strong enough to withstand the fires of Kavaxas.
Sendou Jutsu
Sendou Jutsu is a meditative breathing technique taught to the Turtles by Splinter and allows the user to greatly slow down their body functions, heartbeat, and breathing in order to survive for long periods without oxygen.
The Turtles did this when trapped in an airless space chamber by Commander Mozar and the Triceratons, the reason it’s been added as an ability for April, is because when she, Casey, and Honeycut were watching from their ship, she was the one who explained what they were doing to the other two, meaning Splinter must have taught it too her as well.
Dragon’s Tail
On the first night of being a Kunoichi, sadly April got her butt kicked by Shinigami. With pride in tatters, Splinter decided to teach her a powerful move to make her feel better, this ended up being The Dragon’s Tail.
Simply put, it’s just a really strong kick. The move starts with a momentum-gathering turn, as if for a roundhouse kick, but ends with a side-kick in the mid-section. When April did it, she uh…struck Tiger Claw in the area where the sun doesn't shine, taking him down. It’s unlikely that it’s a groin based attack, but that’s how April chooses to use it.
Weaknesses
April doesn’t have many weaknesses, her powers do have a limit in some regard, and she does struggle with lifting heavier objects, and she is prone to jumping into fights and situations she probably can’t win, due to the need to prove herself.

Scaling
Uraraka
Class 1-A
For all of Ochako’s scaling, I’ll dive deeper into this more in the Before The Verdicts.
Tsuyu:
Could take a hit from Shishida who could also knock back Kirishima
She intercepted Ectoplasm clones to save Tokoyami and battled them alongside him
These clones could dodge strikes from Dark Shadow, while the original matched him outright in combat
Launched multiple rocks in a combo move with Uraraka to take down giant villains, with those same foes tanking blasts from Nejiro Hado earlier
Tsuyu restrained Super Chimera limbs, and took a hit from him as well
Mina:
Casually melted through the legs of multiple Wood Monsters in moments
These remained physically solid to pretty much everybody in the class except for Deku, Bakugo, Todoroki, and Iida's Recipro Burst.
Was able to burn through Slice’s hair
Slice just earlier was beating Tokoyami while he was amplified by darkness and wielding strength enhancing gear
With Alma, burned through Gigantomachia’s skin to melt his hand into nothing but bone
Using a replica of her Acid, Armored All Might dealt severe damage to All For One; forcing him to eject it off of his body due to being unable to stop it
Jirou:
Managed to intercept All For One’s radio wave attack with her soundwave to save Hawks (60.42 × FTL)
Helped defeat Welder after he made armor that could block strikes from Bakugo
Toru:
Bakugo:
Kacchan destroyed multiple steel cubes while fatigued (500 Kilotons of TNT)
Bakugo created a large tornado while preparing his Howitzer Impact (418.8 Kilotons of TNT)
Deku:
Worked with All Might in a combined punch that destroyed a massive steel cube (87.1 Megatons of TNT each)
Defeated Nine, who could create island-sized thunderstorms (10.5 Gigatons of TNT)
Split Dark Might's Island-sized fortress (25.14 Gigatons of TNT)
Launched a dual Detroit Smash while sharing OFA to blast apart a massive storm above Nabu Island (2.8 Teratons of TNT each, 5.6 overall)
This feat was performed while both were exhausted, and before Deku got much stronger using his Quirk, so he should majorly upscale this
Severely outpaced Lady Nagant’s bullets at 45%; moving so fast raindrops don't even budge (5.148% SoL)
The Bullets themselves have covered several hundred Kilometers in moments (Mach 5,941.17 - 1.9% SoL)
Vigilante:
Jube Namimaru blocked a laser from Ichimoku Samazu, with these beams being made up of light (25.98 - 85.26% FTL)
Toga and The League
Ochako scaling to Toga is pretty straightforward, she had defeated her before, and stopped Sad Man’s Legion, and while there are definite limits to how far Ochako can scale to League members like Dabi, and especially Shiggy, she should still be able to scale to them in some regard, I’ll break it down more soon.
The League as a whole could survive blows from Gigantomachia
Sad Man’s Legion could:
Overpowered Pixiebob’s Earthflow, which could match the entirety of Class 1-A simultaneously for hours on end during the Training Camp arc
Shiggy (human) could survive multiple strikes from Re-Destro (10.08 Kilotons of TNT)
Twice kept up with Todoroki in battle and broke through his ice
Gigantomachia devastated multiple mountains (18.9 Megatons)
Was stated by Dr. Garaki to be superior to all generations of Nomu, who were modeled after him as “soldiers” to Machia; their King
The USJ Nomu could hold his own with Current All Might and severely damage his body
The Hood Nomu was stated to be stronger and faster than Endeavor, needing a complete bath in fire to be killed
A newly born High-End Nomu dodged multiple lasers from the hero X-Less (73% FTL)
Shigaraki's High-End Nomu could survive point-blank exposure to several international missiles (7.912 Teratons of TNT)
April O’neil
TMNT
April should scale to the turtle boys, while early in the series, they clearly superior, her growth during the series definitely puts her in the same ballpark, to the point that she has saved them from threats, like Kavaxas and his fire. She even knocked out Raph once during a sparring session. While they still have skill over her, and are physically tougher, her powers give her an edge that even they are still afraid of, even post crystal.
Michelangelo survives the Maligna Ship exploding (405 Tons - 75 Kilotons of TNT)
Raphael can trade blows with the Cockroach Terminator, who survived a blow from the Krang drill (164.75 Kilotons of TNT)
The turtles can damage a Chimera who destroyed a mountain (502 Kilotons - 4.32 Megatons of TNT)
An alternative version of Leonardo survived this explosion (7.73 Megatons of TNT)
Debatable, probably doesn’t scale, given that it was an alternate version (though the entirety of events of the series did happen to that version of Leo) and because Leo might’ve survived because he was already mutated, and given her lack of appearance, she probably died, which is weird due to the fact she is immune to mutagen, and her powers.
Leonardo and Donatello survive a direct explosion from Kavaxas
The turtles can fight Thrag, who survived a blast that vaporised a Krang portal (61.83 Megatons of TNT - 164 Gigatons of TNT) (Debatable)
All four turtles react to and dodge a shot from the Kraang’s energy cannon (37 - 82% SOL)
Allies
April should outright scale to Casey, she’s has Splinter’s training and powers to be outright tougher, Karai has won all their fights, but that was earlier in the series when she had no control over powers and was still learning to fight, and Splinter is a better fighter and is physically stronger, yes, and he did train her, but at their peak (no crystal obviously) she should match.
As for other mutants, April may not be physically as strong, but her powers more than make up for it, and that’s pretty much April's whole deal, physically stronger than most humans, physically not as strong as her mutant allies, but her powers easily let her match them all.
Alongside Donnie, Casey deflected several missiles firing at them
Splinter could hold Kraang Subprime back and could knock half of Kraang Subprime’s mech off
Splinter could sidestep lightning bolts from Hattori Tatsu
Enemies
April and The Turtles have encountered a variety of foes, and while early series April was no competition, by the end of the series, April could scrap with the best of them, including Tiger Claw and even Super Shredder. Now obviously she doesn’t scale to them physically, but her powers can, as she was able to even hurt Super Shredder with them, and even survived a shockwave sent by Super Shredder clap!
Tigerclaw, through multiple parts, is shown fighting the 1987 versions of TMNT turtles
Baxter Stockman can fly fast enough to catch up with a helicopter
Agent Bishop survives an alleyway explosion (0.00078 Tons of TNT)
Kraang Subprime survives the Technodome blowing up (82.3 Kilotons - 8.8 Megatons of TNT)
Dogpound punches a wall hard enough for the ceiling to collapse
Bebop and Rocksteady survive a bridge blowing up (867.5 Tons of TNT)
Armagon was able to catch up with Honnycut's ship, the Ulixes.
Honnycut's ship was able to outrun an exploding star.
At one point, the Ulixes is forced to make a trip from the volcanic world of Magdomar, which is specifically located at the edge of the universe, back to Earth in less than 24 hours. (17 Trillion x FTL, also Debatable)
1987 Turtles Verse
The 1987 Turtles are shown to be weaker than the 2012 Turtles, and they had to be trained by them to get their fighting skills up to par (God I hate that second crossover), considering April is comparable to the 2012 TMNT, and with Splinter’s training, she should scale, which includes scaling to a good bit of the 1987 turtles verse, while Kraang did beat her as shown above, he was actually beating everyone, 2012 turtles included, and she did survive his lasers, and he had no reason to hold back, so she should downscale at the very least.
Mikey tanked having a pizza parlor dropped on him (796,457 joules)
The Turtles busted through a wall (0.145 Tons of TNT)
The turtles, Splinter, April and Shredder survived a big Mushroom cloud explosion (5.14 Tons of TNT)
Shredder survives being inside of a windmill that crashes into the technodrome
Kraang took an explosion of the Lydium 90 that demolished the Technodrome
Bebop and Rocksteady are heavy enough to cause a radio tower to collapse
Splinter was able to chuck Rocksteady, who is a giant adult Rhino
Slash crushed a large boulder (0.017 Tons of TNT)
Splinter held back Dark Devil Shredder’s dark balls with his hands
Before The Verdict
WHERE DOES SHE SCALE?!
Figuring out Uraraka’s scaling, especially in Class 1-A, can be quite difficult, given her quirk is not an AP based one like some of the others in her class. Here’s the thing, what we do know is that while she can’t scale fully to the top three of her class (Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki), she can at least keep up with them, and even take blows from Bakugo, and he wasn’t holding back on her, he was taking her seriously in that fight, and they’ve both gotten stronger since then, obviously to different degree’s, but it’s still worth noting, especially when we take into account that Uraraka was able to directly survive Nine’s attack, which could even take down 20 % Deku and Bakugo, twice, Kaminari even survived Nine’s lightning which definitely hurt Deku and Kacchan.
Furthermore, she could react to Deku’s Blackwhip, when it first manifested and went out of control. Also, she was among the five students (Deku, Bakugo, Shoto, and Shoji) to beat a heavy hitter of the League (Toga in her case), in a weakened state, she stopped the entirety of Sad Man’s Legion. Comparatively speaking, when looking at the Data Book’s, Uraraka is the strongest female in the class, equaling in speed to Tsuyu and Mina, by its logic, though I know arguments can be made for Mina being faster, even by Horikoshi’s own words, though I would argue that Uraraka’s own growth as hero has shown she can compare to this, plus this was earlier in the series, Uraraka has definitely gotten stronger and faster since then. It’s clear by the War Arc, Uraraka is considered the top of the female heroes of her class, which makes sense, considering she is the main heroine of the series, think about, Uraraka can keep up with Toga, who can even catch Deku off guard from time to time.
Speaking of Mina, since we know that Uraraka rivals her, if not surpasses her, she should be able to scale to her being able to melt through liquid that even Kirishima could break, furthering Uraraka superiority to the other girl’s, Mina could destroy balls that Jiro could not. Even crazier, Shoto couldn’t melt them, though again, this took place before the final war, so this wasn’t Shoto’s peak of course. What’s even wilder, scaling to Mina (and even Toga), Uraraka does earn her scaling to Gigantomachia, and while I’m not fully sold, or comfortable to outright scaling Uraraka to AFO/OFA users, all of Class 1-A could hold back, defend against, and evade against AFO’s attacks in the final battle. In fact Armored All Might used replicas of Class 1-A quirks to hurt AFO, and do damage to him.
So, in my opinion, Uraraka can get far into the MHA scaling, and think about it, when watching the series, Uraraka was one of the few heroes from her class to make it to the third round, she could directly tank Kacchan’s explosion, she passed her final exam, she and Tsuyu were the only female heroes to get into an agency on recommendation and participate in the Overhaul arc, she directly survived Nine’s attacks (he has no reason to hold back), she was the only hero who could stop Sad Man’s Legion, and by the end of the series, the only girl in the class to beat her in the hero rankings, is actually Momo, and that doesn’t mean Momo is more powerful, afterall Mount Lady is currently higher than Deku and Bakugo.
According to The Ultra Analysis, this is the ranking in terms of power for Class 1-A….
I def disagree with this, Momo and Jirou should be in the strong tier, Koda show be in low tier, Satou, everytime i see that man he’s always getting jobbed, I’d raise Hagakure just for the final arc, and low key, I’d put Mineta over Sero and Aoyama. Pervert he may be, but that boy saved Sero during the exams, saved Mina from being hit by a Class 1-B foe, and was moving so fast it impressed her during that fight, and his power could even restrain All Might, not to mention, I believe he’s the smartest boy in the class, could’ve been higher if he was less focused on being a perv, and more on getting the grades and applying himself. Also, even though I like him more, I put Bakugo over Shoto, and Tokoyami should be in the High Tier. I’m pretty okay with everything else, I only go back and forth on Shoji and Kirishima places.
Verdict
I thought this would be an easy matchup to go through, but I was wrong, very, very wrong. There is a lot to go over for this matchup, it’s actually very complex, these two ladies had more to work with than I initially suspected, especially April, I was shocked with how much I had forgotten she could do. So to find out who wins this matchup, I’ll break it down to four categories:
Stats
Abilities
Experience
Skill
Let’s begin shall we
Stats
When it comes to pure stats, I was very surprised to find out how hard it would be to pin down for both, especially Uraraka, I still have a headache. Based on their own feats, without a doubt, Uraraka is physically the superior fighter. Before her crystal kicked in, April struggled to lift an oil truck, a standard oil truck can weigh up to 80,000 pounds at its heaviest in the United States, which is exactly 4 tons. Honestly, that’s actually comparable to Uraraka, she’s only able to lift 3 tons, with exceeding that being a major struggle, that would actually put her above Uraraka….before the Final War and her fight with Toga, where she was able to lift the entirety of Sad Man’s Legion, which heavily exceeded 3 tons, making Uraraka vastly superior in terms of physical strength.
But physical strength doesn’t mean April automatically loses, we gotta figure out who is more powerful, and that is tricky, at least for Uraraka side. April may not be as physically tough as her fellow mutants, her powers more than allow her to make up for it. With it she was able to hurt the likes of Super Shredder, heck, she could survive his blows, and the blows of Kraang, Lord Dregg, and The Newtralizer, and she outright beat Za-Noran. Uraraka on the other hand could survive explosions from Bakugo, and even Nine, who took on both Bakugo and Deku, so who is more powerful?
Scaling wise, I’m going to do something funny, I’m going to take both at their absolute highest you can give them, in fact I'll even include the mutagen bomb feat for April, even though she probably shouldn’t scale, but I’ll include it, you’ll see why. With that mutagen bomb in particular, April could possibly survive an explosion of 7.73 Megatons of TNT, furthermore, Thrag surviving that portal explosion is at its highest could get to 164 Gigatons of TNT, which…is actually higher than the mutagen bomb feat??? You can see why this is shaky, but sure we’ll take it into account, the Turtles did fight Thragg afterall, so did Leatherhead, so downscaling is also something that could be done.
Frankly speaking though, it doesn’t matter because the highest possible feat Uraraka could scale to at the highest, is Shigaraki's High-End Nomu surviving 7.912 Teratons, what’s crazy is that Uraraka scaling to this would have some merit and debatability regardless if we were strict on both, Gigantomachia was stated to be superior to to all generations of Nomu, who were modeled after him as “soldiers” to Machia; their King, holy frick. Mina could hurt Machia, Momo could even restrain him, given the Ultra Analysis, Uraraka is superior to both of them! So regardless of where you wanna restrain Uraraka, she will consistently have better arguments for being higher than April, especially if we’re strict on both. At least in terms of power, MY SMURF ACADEMIA continues with this match. Uraraka cleanly takes power.
But power isn’t everything, who takes speed? Well by most of the feats, it would seem Uraraka clearly takes it by scaling, in their own feats, April does show more impressive speeds, being able to dodge lasers. But with scaling, Uraraka scales to the Vigilante feat, which gets to 25.98 - 85.26% FTL, compared to April’s scaling to the turtles dodge Kraang blaster fire 3.11x FTL.
However, if you include the fact that Armagon was able to catch up with the Ulixes, and the fact that it could outrun an exploding star, and could make the trip to volcanic world of Magdomar, which is specifically located at the edge of the universe, back to Earth in less than 24 hours, that would get too 17 Trillion x FTL. That’s insane, did it happen, yes, did Armagon catch up with the ship, sure, did the turtles and April/Casey fight him, and keep up with him, as well, technically yes, do I feel weird about it, also yes. If you take it at face value, yes, April would take speed, by the craziest margin, even with downscaling, if not, then yeah Ochako takes speed, and all the stats too.
Abilities
When looking at powers, both seem pretty similar at first glance. Gravity Quirk vs Telekensis, both are pretty similar. If this was before the Quirk Awakening, April telekinesis would be outright better, everything Uraraka floats requires touch, April doesn’t have to do that, she just has to raise her hands, from a distance. She can push, pull, and repel Uraraka. Not to mention, her equipment is better, with her Tessen, Tanto, blaster, and Shurikens. She can cut through Ochako’s grappling hooks, and even stab her. Though Ochako’s overwhelming endurance, being able to fight while bleeding out and dying, would mean she’d be able to fight on, especially given the strength gap. Furthermore, Ochako was trained to fight opponents with blades and knives, like Toga.
But with her awakening, Ochako no longer has to touch people or objects, and now she can spread the effects of her power without touching anyone, putting them both on equal footing in terms of powers, at least April’s telekinetic power. April telepathy is what really seals the deal here, she can create shields, and while given the ap gap, Uraraka can technically break them, April having them is still good to have. Secondly, April’s senses are insane, she could see people without even being in their location, including in other dimension’s, she sense people following her, even accurately hit them without even seeing them, heck when Rat King had telepathy himself, without even training in combat, and being a normal guy (this was before he became Rat King), he kicked all the Turtles butt easily, just by reading their thoughts. April is a fully trained ninja with the same power, and MHA characters love thinking their plans in their minds, so April could theoretically do the same.
Let’s say Uraraka somehow floated April into space, first, that would take awhile, but two, April is one, aware of Sendou Jutsu, which is a meditative breathing technique taught to the Turtles by Splinter and allows the user to greatly slow down their body functions, heartbeat, and breathing in order to survive for long periods without oxygen. Plus given her own powers, and ability to levitate herself, I’d doubt this would work. April is basically a Jedi Ninja. While April has technically mentioned that tracking mutants is easier, she’s never really shown any struggle with tracking humans either, just that mutants are easier…also technically the humans of MHA would kinda count as being mutants, so it might not matter either way.
April cleanly takes abilities.
Experience
This one’s actually debatable, technically speaking by the end of the series, Ochako is 24 compared to April’s 16, but we don’t really get to see what she does in those years, outside of the fact that she made it too rank 24, which isn’t indicative of skills or feats, given Deku’s rise in a few months, so it's best to look at Uraraka experience in the year leading up to the final war. Which yeah its impressive, she’s seen a variety of heroes and villains, and even taken down foes with various quirks.
Regardless, I’d still give it to April, she too has seen her fair share of villains, from ninja’s, to mutants, monsters, aliens of various kinds, and even a demon, plus she’s been to other dimensions. She’s just seen more in her one year, compared to Uraraka’s own year, and maybe even adult years, so April takes experience.
Skills
This too, I’m gonna have to give to April, partially at least. I feel in terms of powers, Uraraka’s mastery of her own quirk is superior to April’s, who, while she has it under control, still has much to learn, she can one day pull off the feats that she did with the crystal, but one day isn’t today. However, April is the better fighter straight up, she was trained by Splinter, and became a full blown Kunoichi in one year, she is a ninja, who know ninja things, like stealth, and while Gunhead Martial Arts is cool, it clearly doesn't match up, and fighting Toga who is wild, and uses a knife, probably doesn’t match up to fighting a ninja, who uses a short sword, and while Uraraka is smart, scrappy, and can come up with quick strategies, April can too, and is smarter all things considered.
But given that Ochako is more skilled in terms of her power, I'm willing to call this a draw.

I kinda want to stick with My Hero Academia for a bit, not as my next major blog, but as a bonus side project, I think the next one will be Toph vs Miruko. But as the real next time:
